Well, I woke up Sunday morning...(remember those lyrics?)
thinking...
about my garden one plant in a pot, shhh of herbs.
Since we have been away, I needed to check on the poor little plant that I knew would dead.
Oh my gosh, it was not dead, it was thriving!
Okay, to me, it was thriving, alive and green is good.
There is just something about growing a plant from a seed.
I mean, me growing something from a seed.
Feeling of triumph.
Do you know what I mean, have you felt that feeling?
Oh my, I really hate to snip some off!
I am proud.
Have any of you ever tried herb gardening?
Hi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean! It feels so good to plant something and have it grow. I planted gladiolas for the first time this year and they actually grew! I was shocked and happy too. Thanks for your sweet comments too.
I see I already follow your blog but I am adding on again. For some reason I have to go back and add on again to get it to show up in my dashboard thingy.
Have a great Sunday too!
Cindy
Hi Nancy, we were on a roll with a topsy turvey's and then all of sudden after a a week a way, and forgetting to let my friend know where they where hiding for her to water...they are gone! So disappointing..we did manage to get some green small peppers early on. Have a great day, your herb looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour basil looks great-congrats! Yes please do snip and use some, you will be rewarded with an even bushier plant! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBasil is my favorite! I've just recently realized how delish it is on a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI know just what you can do with that basil...come vist my post...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Happy Sunday. sounds like you should be proud re your plant. I can't grow anything. Rose
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I grow basil, parsley and rosemary, but I have to say basil is my favorite. In fact, I might even wear basil perfume if it existed! Linda
ReplyDeleteI have mint in a pot....and haven't used any of it/ha
ReplyDeleteI do use the peppers and tomatoes though (in pots too)
I have been herb gardening for many years, and it actually is my favorite form of gardening. Snip it off; makes it grow bushier. Oh, and herbs don't mind being ignored. They rather like it.

We had a hail storm of Biblical proportions this spring, and all my plants looked like they had been napalmed! Then our yard people weeded my beds, and they dug up my beautiful day lilies and shasta daisy plants. Not the lushest gardens I've ever produced. Your post gives me hope...I'm looking forward to cooler weather when I can replant and start again. Thanks for your kind words for my latest post. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! Oh, I'm proud of you. I've grown flowers from seeds but many years ago. I love the feeling of going out and checking to see if it's popped up through the soil!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - you have a lovely Basil plant.
Did you know - the more you snip your herbs the bigger they will grow? How fun to find your plant thriving.
Have a lovely week.
Blessings,
Erin
since my little sister gave me my portable green house that sits on my back deck..I have the most wonderful looking basil ever..huge leaves..we don't do well because of the milder temps..but in italy..oh my gosh..we had the best and biggest basil ever...we are growing oregano, thyme, mint.parsley..and sage..and are doing quite well.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I have never tried herb growing. I don't have a lot of counter space in my kitchen and my island is already so full. I have always wanted to give it a try, but sadly you know how things go sometimes.
Your's however looks so HAPPY. It has a happy heart for sure. You keep snippin that Basil and Lord only knows how big it will get. Do you have a bigger pot? Looks like you just may need it.
I would definitely say you have a green thumb. I am clapping for you sweetie, can you hear me?
Have a gorgeous week sweet friend. I have signed up to follow your blog. I so love meeting new friends and sharing along the way. Thank you for stopping by Country Wings. I am so thrilled that you did.
Many hugs sweetie...Sherry
I love growing herbs, and I do pretty well with them, really better than vegetables. Thanks for visiting, stop in any time.
ReplyDeleteSandy
Hey, Nancy - that basil's lookin' good and strong and delicious! I have to admit i haven't grown it from seed, usually an already growing little plant. But it is so rewarding to have it handy to use and enjoy eating! I love making fresh pesto out of it. Thanks for stopping by~
ReplyDeleteI have tried herb gardening.....and I must say that is one healthy basil
ReplyDeleteplant.

Pesto. Last week I made 16 cups and am enjoying looking forward to eating it on fresh pasta. Or, on some toasted garlic bread.
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy
ReplyDeleteSo nice of you to leave me such a sweet comment I really do appreciate you.
I tried herbs years ago and keep saying I am going to do a garden out here now that I live in the country but have not yet.
So happy yours did not die on you. It actually looks pretty darn healthy.
One herb I have tried several times but I think because I never planted in the ground it was rosemary and it would die on me every time. lol
Love
Maggie
I had a garden for a couple years and it did give me a snese of pride to use my own veggies for food. Nice basil - I love basil. sandie
ReplyDeleteHey Nancy-
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an herb garden to me- especially since herbs won't grow for me!
Love to you-
Happy Anniversary,
Laura
Oh, definitely harvest some. You will be well rewarded in a couple of weeks with an even bushier, lusher plant!
ReplyDeleteYou should be proud. That looks so healthy and pretty. Congratulations! laurie
ReplyDeleteHey, good for you! Basil, right? My parsley and cilantro and dill are doing great! But I think a rabbit is munching on my chives! haha.
ReplyDeleteOh I have zero luck with growing things from seeds but have had plants before that I love! The smell is awesome and think they are gorgeous! Enjoy your day my friend and munch on some fresh herbs for dinner! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! It seems like basil is one of the herbs that do well when it is warm. Mine grows everywhere but it is the first to go when it freezes....Christine
ReplyDeleteLooks so good Nancy. I'm inspired.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, So nice to meet you. You should be proud. Yes, it is a good feeling. I fight with deer and other critters all summer with my flower gardens and I've always wanted to try an herb garden. I do have chives in my flower garden and they do very well and spread like crazy. The deer hate them, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteHowdy!
ReplyDeleteI am entrusting my hose keepers with watering my herbs and plants every day while Mark and I are here in VA. So, I am praying I come home to plants that look nicer than when I water them when they look like they're almost dead, LOL!!
Your basil, alive, I'm sure, must have been a very happy sight! :)
Happy herb gardening!!
Hugs,
~me
I meant to type "house" keepers, above, but then had a good laugh, because I realized, they are also keepers of the watering hose, and that sounded okay, too ;)
ReplyDeleteNancy they are doing so well! Your garden is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, ~Melissa :)
Found you from Maggie's site today and since your a friend of hers I thought I would probably enjoy your site and I was right.
ReplyDeleteGlad I got to come by and join you
Thanks
Tam
The only thing I'm good at raising is cain. I've tried to raise herbs but sadly no luck.
ReplyDeleteOne of the items on the Sweet Pea Bistro menu is tomatoe/basil/mozzarella on toasted bread. You'll have to try a little of yours this way...it's wonderful!
Debbie
I can completely identify with you, Nancy. I love to grow things. Watching the stages of growth from seed to plant is most fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting the cottage. I'm sorry it took so long to come for a return visit. My Yankee and I are still touring New England and I don't have access to a computer often.
I just joined you as a follower and will visit again when I finally return home. If I ever get back! ;)
Blessings,

Nancy thank you for the kind email this am. I lost track of your blog for awhile but I'm back now. Come by anytime my friend!
ReplyDeleteWarmly, ~Melissa :)
Your basil is BEAUTIFUL, Nancy! I love to grow and use herbs. Since we moved to our current house, it has been very difficult... we are almost all shade. I do so miss having abundant herbs to cook with straight out of the garden!
ReplyDeleteLook at that big, healthy basil plant! I grow herbs and basil is my favorite. The smell just reminds me of summer!
ReplyDeleteOh, happy anniversary wishes too! :)
How fun to grow your own herbs, Nancy! I can only seem to grow rosemary! lol Happy Anniversary, too! I hope you are having a great week!....hugs..Debbie
