Vintage...Antique or Just Old?
Can you believe that my California Pottery is listed as "Vintage?"
Surely I haven't had my favorite pottery that long.
Good thing they don't call it junk.
Good thing they don't call it junk.
I know that Vintage is not as old as "Antique", but still!
Vi-Viiii- Vintage?
Makes me shudder to think it's that old...
I have been around a lot longer...yikes.

Anyhow, here's a little Vintage "Pottery Show" for you...
My one and only favorite rooster will take the lead!
Poor thing, he missed the "Big Rooster Party."
Shhh...don't talk about it, he's got big ears.
He would not forgive me if he knew.
Just could not make it, but he would never understand.
He's been with me for so long, really like him.
I call him a "Silly Goose!"
He hates it when I call him a goose...

He does not like me talking about my other pieces. He gripes when I have them join a party.
Any of you have a spoiled rotten rooster?
Any of you have a spoiled rotten rooster?
I love this reliable casserole dish, never grumbles.
This one is very stable and always cooperative and never has a beef.
This one loves parties! Sulks and literally wilts if not invited.
This dish does not come out often, oh, just a little devil.
This one prefers veggies, in hysterics if something hustles to be scooped in that is not a fresh green. (moody is an understatement)
Ahhh, this little number, position of prominence. goes insane if butter is banned.
Oh, holds a weighty position around here, candy keeper.
Oh goodness, what a big ego!
Oh goodness, what a big ego!
Now, these just sit around quite a bit. Now, if it's rumored that the one on the right is passed around more often, oh our little counterpart, starts to snare and gets cross, sure causes some pretty spicy peppery talk,
Sometimes they like being together, they take a peek at one another, they gaze in awe at their loveliness.
Sometimes they like being together, they take a peek at one another, they gaze in awe at their loveliness.
I do have some other personable pieces of this Vintage Pottery, but when they got wind that they were being called "Old" and "Vintage," not interested in coming out to play.
Midlife crises has set in with them, moody little things!
You know, I bet they will perk up one day when they are called
"Antique!"
Psst, you know what? I have always called my chicken a rooster! Poor thing is so confused since I call it a silly goose too! Shh...don't want our family chicken to hear this!

Hope you are all having a great day!
Hi Nancy! Oh, what lovely vintage pottery! You have some beautiful pieces. Love the golden yellow color too. Now you know my favorite is your tureen! Now, Dear Nancy, I hate to tell you this but I do believe your Rooster is a chicken as he's sitting on a nest of eggs! :) Now he may be a very special laying Roosters! If he is ~ he must be the most famous one.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Oh Shiela, I know...it's a family secret, I have called him a rooster and a goose for so long, it has just stuck!
ReplyDeleteHe's our famous one, no doubt about it!~
Nancy
What a darling post;)!
ReplyDeleteYour vintage pottery is gorgeous! I love the color and pattern! The "rooster" chicken is just wonderful...I hope he didn't hear you;)!
Enjoy!
Cathy
I love that silly goose, uh rooster/chicken! I also love all of the other Viiiii-ntage beauties! I have been adding yellow to my kitchen which has way too much red in it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your kitchen lovelies with us!
Have a blessed day my friend!
You are too cute. I love the color...all that yellow is yummy. Have a darling weekend♥olive
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and your post is darling! I'm sure "they" feel like a big deal now that they are vintage. Means they are worth more $$$. Hope they don't join forces and "fly the coop". Sorry I couldn't resist. :-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove the pottery and your 'rooskin' is gorgeous... I have three pottery chickens, but not as nice as yours.
ReplyDeleteWell I am vintage also and hope I'm worth more then when I was new!Hmmm probably not, think it works better with stuff. Love it all and of course your Rooster/Chicken is too cute.
ReplyDeleteThe pottery is gorgeous but your sense of humor has stolen the show...now that chicken/goose/rooster will be really mad!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL- And I thought I was the only one that gave "life" to inanimate objects;>) Loving you "dish" on the pottery! The pieces are gorgeous. The chicken is my favorite, of course, followed closely by the bread dish. Thanks for putting a smile on my face (while I'm at work-shhhhh-don't tell anyone ~it is a slow dy)...Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, Nancy what a cute post and I love all your vintage goodies. Quit confusing that poor chicken. I do love that one. It is a lot like my white one. They need to visit some time.
ReplyDeletecute post...rooster...chicken..silly goose...all said with love...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely vintage pottery!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy...I am not familiar with this pottery...vintage and all! But it is lovely...and a great post! Thanks for visiting me today too!
ReplyDeleteLovin' your pottery, such pretty colors! I think my favorite is the... ah ... um... bird.
ReplyDeleteToo cute a write, Nancy ... poor fella is 'confused' ... What lovely pottery, bright & cheery.

TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon
Beautiful pieces! All of them! Super collection! Fun post! I think I am getting to be vintage myself :)
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these pieces are just gorgeous. What a fabulous collection. I think your "Silly Goose" is fabulous too. I'm sure he/she's really a sweetie. Cute, cute, cute post. Hope you are having a super day. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm the last to know this, but I just found out that antique now means anything over 50 years old. Antique use to mean over 100 years old. Or was I told wrong?
ReplyDeleteLove your "silly goose."
That rooster just stole my heart.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI love your post today. I'd say your rooster, who used to be a hen and is now a goose, definitely has an identity crisis. Maybe the other pieces can help him out! LOL.
I used to have a bread server like yours and I'm not sure where it has gone too. Better go looking for it. I didn't realize it was an antique!
hugs
Sissie
Nancy, your collection of pottery is fabulous! I love the warm, cheerful feel of it!! I know... midlife crisis is rampant! LOL! Vintage indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love your California Pottery! What wonderful colors!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Hi Nancy! Thanks so much for commenting and becoming a follower of my blog! I've been to yours before...I'm sure I've left a comment or two, and I've been a follower for a quite a while, too. Is there a way to go back and find out when we began following a particular blog? That would be fun! Anyway, thanks again! Oh, and guess what?? You're so close to 200 Followers, and you became my 100th!! I can't believe I've hit the BIG 100!!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteNancy you crack me up! I really like the look of all the vintage pieces together. They are all such a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever!!! I loved this post! I love ALL your posts!
ReplyDeleteHi, Nancy - how nice to have you visit my blog - and now I've had the pleasure of looking around yours. I love your pottery. It's not something I've seen before, but the colour and glaze are very appealing.
ReplyDeleteSee you again!
I have a few California Pottery pieces, but none so colorful and full of personality as yours! And yours communicate so cleverly, too!
ReplyDeleteGood happy Sunday to you Nancy!! I was pleased that you stopped in for a visit. And, vintage tho they are, they are super! I loved the fact that they're all mostly yellow...a warm, friendly shade of pottery!! My favorite would be the candy dish covered with the nest of eggs...oh and the butter? Ban butter? No way...I'll die a happy gal eating the REAL thing instead of those gluey tasting imitations they call "buttery". LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed my visit. [Is Austin hot like here in Corpus? WISH it would rain --but, not hurricane tho.]
From one vintage woman to another!
ReplyDeleteYou have a womderful 'vintage' collection of pottery. They're nice - they sure don't make things like they used too - us either.
Love,
from a vintage woman,
sandie
Such pretty pottery! I love looking through antique and thrift stores for pottery, especially the deviled egg platters. Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection.

ReplyDeletethey are sooo pretty, and vintage just makes them that much more special!!!
ReplyDeleteNancy! Well I am so pleased to meet you! Thank you for coming by for a Creamsicle today! And your "vintage" ware is stunning...it does remind me of my childhood in the early sixties when my mom would pull out her Betty Crocker cook book and make some interesting recipes and serve them up on very similar pottery wares. Your rooster is adorable!
ReplyDeleteDo come back, anytime! Enjoy this fabulous Sunday...at least here in Minneapolis, it is a perfect day! Anita
Hi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI like all your pottery. The colors are so pretty. Neat collection!
Nancy
Bottom line - it's your chicken/rooster and you can call it anything you want!
ReplyDeleteI call the Canadian Honkers that stop off in the field across from our house "ducks", and they don't seem to mind one little bit.
