April the 8th!

April the 8th, my birthday is today and I...

for many years have wondered how wise I would be when at last maturity would catch up with me, Oh my heavens, the years have flown by and the fifties came in such a rush and now the more I know the less I really know! So now I am pushing, I mean slowly pushing into to next decade, okay, I am not there yet!! A couple of years to go! Anyhow, I do know I am older, have just a tiny speck of gray in my hair, a few itty bitty wrinkles, I give thanks for hair dye, if you want to know, I have nightmares of dye going out of stock, did that too when perms were in! I am thankful I have so many interests that fill my life with so much joy and love, my husband, my children, grandchildren, my entire family including my beautiful mom, three incredible brothers, not to mentions the best friends ever! I have found some creative interests that fascinate me and keep me really busy and young, did you hear that, I still feel young, then sometimes, not so much! Now there are some issues with aging that have have been a bit exasperating for me the last few years. I continue to be in shock, I can't believe it. I have noticed, I now have more jars of moisturizer on the counter, along with powders, anti aging creams, spot removers, masks, concealers, pencils, sprays, name it, I've got it. No, I don't think I am vain, it's just that dreadful mirror that likes to talk to me.  I can say that all things the stars use to achieve that young wholesome look, well, I flattered myself into thinking they work, but the reality is they don't work! I have to admit, I just keep at it! Anyhow, I am happy to have a birthday to celebrate! I welcome what the good Lord will send my way.

Also, on this awesome day, I want to thank God for giving me such wonderful parents. I know the years after the day I arrived they could never forget April 8th! When my precious father was living and to this day my precious mother reminds me that I was very proud of this day and would never ever let them forget it! I told them if they had not made it so special, I would not have thought April the 8th was that great! Anyhow, it has become a joke in our family! Even my brothers tell me, how could we forget your birthday! So today I dedicate all the love that is engraved in my heart to my parents, for they brought me into this wonderful world and made my life, oh so very special.

I love you Mom and Dad, I am certain that Dad knows up in heaven that it's
April the 8th!!

Today is also our dearest daughter in law's birthday! A daughter in our hearts!

Holly, Happy Birthday sweetie!
We love you!

  12. Happy Birthday Nancy!!!! That was a very touching post. We have so much to be thankful for when we have special parents....

Hey you should see my creams, lotions, ha! I will tell you that I saw on Good Morning America, experiments of lotions, and ones that actually do some good....I ran out an bought the new Aveeno (box) Moisturizer and 4 little tubes of gel...I really like this stuff. I can see a small difference; which is an improvement for expensive stuff...give it a try!
    Again....Happy Birthday!

  25. Nancy...I always make a late entrance...it's just a part of my M.O! Sorry.
Happy birthday...I hope it was a beautiful one filled with laughter, joy and love. I figure as long as we feel young on the inside...who cares what the mirror says...although there are some "used before dates" coming faster than I would like. Who knew feet wrinkled?
I say make the rest of the week your birthday week!

I'm sure your father knows exactly what date today is...I'm sure he does!

  37. Hope your birthday was wonderful!! My body experienced major changes when I hit my 50's!! I couldn't believe it!!! My birthday is the 22 of April and I will be 58. I keep saying that that is almost 60!! yikers--I can not grasp this!!! I agree that the older you get the more you are learning and realizing what you do not know or what you thought you knew was in fact not quite right!!! (Ha, I just realized I have all of these exclamation marks--I have a very hard time not putting them in!!!!!!!!HA!)

I do not use hair dye since I react to it--I have too many weird sensitivities. It really makes you feel like a little old lady when the gray comes in....and my glasses....I have to wear big ones otherwise reading the computer or magazines become too great a problem.....ah yes.....I am getting old. BUT I am trying to enjoy this age. I have found there are many blessings with each age that comes. So have a blessed new year.
