My Ancestors

I love old family photographs, this one is from my father's side of the family. I have this photograph sitting in a guest room and since this photograph was taken on a Sunday, decided I would share this one with you today. I cherish this photograph.

Vintage Cookook Illustrations...

On of my favorite treasures is my Vintage Betty Crocker Cookbook, copyright 1959 by General Mills, Inc.  It's Betty's guide to "Easy Entertaining>" What fascinates me about this particular cookbook is the wonderful illustrations by Peter Spier and Betty Crocker's commanding advice~

Best Wishes for many relaxed hours of entertaining~

In Full Bloom...

I just came in from watering my flowers, it's one of my favorite times of the day. This morning I took my trusty little camera with me. I was able to capture the grace of my hibiscus plant and the charm of each beautiful stage that it lovingly flaunts day after day.

I love my garden. I love to wonder around in peace and quite.

I love to take in the scent of the morning dew with only one sound, the birds circling around and chirping like they are just talking to me. It's perfect.

My day is made-

Enjoy your weekend~

Turning Over a New Leaf...

Summer is almost gone and so it's gone in my home.  The only remnant of summer- central air. Since it's still summer weather here,  it's necessary to bring some of my old touches of fall back again. I need want that old fall feeling! Nothing really new, just rearranged and moved around. Ahh, the fun of re-arranging. Even if we don't have distinct changes in seasons, I create them in our home. I love Autumn, it's like the beginning of a new year, except it's not with champagne, horns or confetti.

Oh, Autumn, it's such a warm feeling,  the beauty of fall opens up so much for me, in my thoughts and in my surroundings and yes, and in my kitchen. I am waiting for that first cold snap~ I know, don't even think it or tell me that that may be a long time in coming.  I am very good at creating that feeling in my heart. I am anxious for that first pot of soup simmering on the stove and my old iron skillet filled with some scrumptious cornbread...with a few jalapeno's added for a bit of spice.

I know you all will cringe, but in September, I also get excited about Thanksgiving and Christmas! Yes, I do-

Some of my old touches of fall, I am still in the midst of creating that feeling...

I just threw him in for fun. I truly love him.  He's been around a long, long time.

I love this old wreath...still undecided about where to put it.

When I think of Autumn....
 This comes to mind...

Wherever you are, enjoy your day~
