A Beautiful Sight...
When we drove past and fast by this beautiful sight, I was filled with pride.
I'm so happy to share the photograph of our American Flag and the fence in the distance on top of this beautiful mountain! Oh, and that blue sky is just stunning and all this in the beautiful state of Colorado. I have to mention, we were flying down the road and I always have my camera in hand on road trips, I was absolutely thrilled to have gotten this glorious shot of
The American Flag
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion’d stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine!
O Beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From Sea to Shining Sea
My
father passed away on April 30, 2009 and it still doesn't seem real. I expect my phone
to ring and to hear Dad's voice. I want to share things with him daily, ask his
advice or just say hi. I want to see his smile, hear his laugh and be able to
hug him. I really can't say enough about this
wonderful man I was lucky enough to have for a father.
I miss him every moment of every day.
I miss him every moment of every day.
He was very proud to serve our Country in World War II and was a very proud American.
God Bless America!
God knows, we need blessing!

Nancy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture of our flag on top of the mountain. I can't believe the 4th of July is upon us. Oh, I wanted to tell you those weren't my garden roses. They were just lovely areas that I visit often around my town. My garden isn't as green and lush for sure, but I'm working on it and have many different colors of roses in the back yard. I'll show you them sometime on a post.
Have a good rest of the week.

by the way, did I ever tell you that my best friend lives in Colorado? I heard it was just beautiful.
Great shot since you took it while traveling. I enjoy seeing our flag flying no matter where it's at. This was a pretty grand spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture Nancy. I got a lump in my throat seeing that and remembering all the terrible wars and conflict we have gone through. God bless all of our military personnel for keeping us safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nancy - it was beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful sight! I miss my dad too and he also served in World War II. We lost him in 1991. We have a lot to be proud of in our country because of our military forces. I'm glad we have these traditions to remember everyone especially those who passed while serving in the military. Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteHeart warming...and heartwarming!! A wonderful tribute for the long Holiday weekend...and enjoyed the photo of your late father, that touched my soul. AND the flag...I remember someone from Belgium who blogs and in her comment one time when I had a photo of the American Flag she said "You Americans really memorialize your flag"....of course we do. It is a freedom symbol among prideful.
ReplyDeleteNancy, I liked seeing your father's photo. I know you miss him. It's hard to not have our parents. Blessings to you for a nice weekend filled with love. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post for Memorial Day, Nancy. I feel the same way about my late beloved hubby of 43 years, as you do about your dad. I'll forever miss him!
