Thrill of the Hunt!

Just dropping in for a minute, I'm stressed out just a tad. I'm off for some shopping therapy. Yes, it's for my health.

You know, I enjoy shopping and even if there's not anything I really need or want, it comforts me. Like the old commercial for Callgon...Callgon take me away.

Humm...emotional shopping, is that like emotional eating? I don't go to malls, #$%^&^^%$# food courts are there.

Deal is this.

I go out to Barnes and Noble, to an Antique Store or Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning, you name the store....it's therapeutic shopping.

I find myself, more often than not, finding things I really would not ever have on my list! Then I put them back, yes, in it's place and I leave happy as a lark! It's the thrill of the hunt that excites me!

Do you ever find things you think are real treasures and then put them back?

Do tell!

Have a great day, sweet friends!

  1. Nancy, I like looking at all the new things too. I do not buy every time I am out...that's for sure. I do love getting deals. I hate food courts too. I do not want to smell food while looking at clothes...is that strange? Blessings to you this week. xoxo, Susie

  2. Hello Nancy, I have cut back shopping outing big time since I retired. I already need to downsize what I have and no longer need. I hope you feel good, enjoy your day! Happy Tuesday, enjoy your week ahead!

  3. Sorry about being stressed out but you handled it perfectly! Nothing like a little shopping trip to soothe the soul.
As for me, when I shop there's no turning back. I take home what I buy. Hope you're feeling better!

  4. I love shopping too Nancy. Unfortunately I am not as disciplined as you to put the things back lol! I do usually say if it has been in my cart the whole shopping trip and I am not excited about it I will put it back.
    Have a great week.

  6. Yes, I often tdo just that. Sometimes I take a photo with my phone. Then if I'm still thinking of it days later, I'll retrace my steps to see if it's still there. I don't like to be an impulse buyer. If something isn't there when I return, I know it wasn't meant for me to have it. '-)

    1. Great idea to take a picture of it. Good for you not being an impulse buyer, not me! I have to say, if I really want it then, it's mine!

  7. Yes, I do that also. Put it in the basket and keep shopping, then if I find something better back it goes where I found it. Sometimes I leave without purchasing nothing. But I get out and about.

    Have a great week Nancy.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  8. I always tell Dan it's about the hunt when you go out. That's when it's fun- making a project of looking for something and then it gets better when you run across something you didn't expect and love it! Yes when I get in a funk it helps me to go out and get some retail therapy. I'm much better at not buying than I used to be. I have loaded up things at T.J. Maxx and then wandered about putting them back.

  9. I usually like to buy, buy, buy but I think it's great you are happy just with the hunt. My husband would be thrilled if I just liked to hunt and not buy :o) I will say that I buy much less than I used to though. I also find that I feel refreshed and happy with just a small purchase like a candle.

  10. Nancy, glad you got some stress relief my friend. I am a thrifter or as my man would say, "Junker". But he DISLIKES Thrift stores and Yard sales! Me...I take it by spells to be honest. I like to go when I've plenty of time to browse and I don't always buy. But now when I'm on a mission....LOOK out! I will shop all day to accomplish a mission I may be on. LOL! I truly love to shop at stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Micheals, AC Moore and well, let me in Lifeway store and I will be in there for hours just browsing at the books and studies they offer. Matter of fact I feel some therapy coming on soon! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. Nancy, I so enjoy a day shopping by myself in Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning ...these are located in my city. But, I love to drive 60 miles away to Barnes & Noble where I can spend an entire day reading and drinking coffee! I don't have to buy anything, it really is therapy! 12. Dear Kindred Spirit-
You know I am right there with you!
Some of our best phone conversations have been when I am sitting in my car in a store parking lot!
    Love to you my friend!

  13. Yes, shopping can be so relaxing and fun. I love just browsing, and often never even buy anything. But when I do buy something, it's usually unique, one of a kind items. :) Isn't Barnes and Noble delightful? I'm glad you had a fun shopping day, Nancy.
