This is something dear to my heart, it's about remembering home and our traditional holiday dinners.
I'm very happy to be the one taking on the joy of my mother's china and silverware.
My memories of her are precious. Oh the sweet memories of home and our traditional holiday dinners. Mom's tables were magnificent.
It will be a pleasure to set my table with the dishes she picked out as a young bride. Their meaning and emotional value is beyond description.
Her china is made by Bellaire and the beautiful pattern is Juliana. I just love the scalloped edges. Her silverware is by Wallace and pattern is Grand Baroque. Thank you, Laura! I did get the magnifying glass out, sure helped!
Do any of you use your Mother's China and Silverware?
Would love to hear all about it!
Is it exciting to create a tablescape with her china and silverware?
I can't wait! I'll try to put my creative hat on soon!

How pretty..and how lovely keeping her traditions:)
ReplyDeleteOh Nancy, how beautiful! I love the pattern and what a wonderful heritage from your mama! How precious. I have some dishes that belonged to my grandmother and my motherinlove that no amount of money could buy from me! I even have a bread bowl Nancy that my great-grandfather made (carved) out for my great-grandmother that has been handed down to me! Priceless! Thanks for sharing this. Melted my old heart today. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy, we do have the traditional holiday dinners with the family. It is getting harder to get the family together lately, some of the family are living further away. I love your pretty dishes. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYour mothers dishes are stunning and I love them along with the silverware. Did you look it up on Google?
ReplyDeleteI gave my grandmother in laws dishes to my son. they were so pretty. I don't entertain much anymore and when I do I use a lot of my tablescape dishes. I normally don't entertain over 4 at a time as it's just to much work. If I was younger I would use my MIL's pretty china that my ex brought home from Japan when he was in the service.
I am so glad that you got those lovely dishes. The younger generation doesn't want china and silver. They seem to like white and not a lot of decorations on the table. Maybe times will change.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Hugs,
Mary
I have some of my grandmothers dishes, vases, etc. Which I truly treasure.
Nancy, I love your beautiful things. The silverware is very nice. Hope you are having some fun and enjoy good days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteHer China is beautiful- how lucky that you have it now. My mother has a silver set by Wallace called Michaelangelo. I can't say if it's the same though. Send a picture of two to Replacement Ltd. (http://www.replacements.com)
ReplyDeleteThey will tell you all about the China and silverware. There's an email they provide for you to send your inquiry to.
You are lucky to have those dishes!
ReplyDeleteNancy, I was given my mother's wedding china. We used it for special occasions when I was growing up. Then after all of us left home and my dad was no longer living, my mother decided to use it everyday. I think it brought back sweet memories. Not all of it survived, but what is left is now treasured by one of my nieces. I passed it on to her last spring. I also had my mom's crystal that I had given this niece several years ago. Like you, I love using family pieces. So gald you have these dishes and silver from your mom. '-)
ReplyDeleteNancy, your mother's china is so beautiful along with the flatware! I have so many wonderful treasures from my Mother. I know you will keep those precious memories always! Blessings, Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteNancy- your mother's china and sterling are wonderful! I am not surprised- she had exquisite taste.
ReplyDelete(I think the Wallace pattern is Grand Baroque.) You have always been such a special caretaker of the traditions and memories of your sweet family. These are beautiful additions!
Yes, that's it! Thank you!
DeleteI got out my trusty magnifying glass too!
China and Silver Beauties Indeed . . .
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous dishes! Years ago I was gifted with my husband's grandparents wedding china and it is such a treasure to me. Have a wonderful weekend! xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful are your mother's china and silverware, Nancy. And lucky you getting them! You don't see silverware like this anymore. Just plain and simple stuff nowadays. It's so nice that you have special memories of your mother. I do have a gravy bowl that belonged to my mom and her mother also from the 40's, and every Thanksgiving I use it. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.

Such treasures, full of memories of good times at your mother's table. The silver is beautiful and it's lovely that you value all of this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful elements and treasures to set a perfect table.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are keeping tradition alive and teaching it to your family too.
Thank you so much sweet Nancy for sharing this with us at TOHOT too.

Beautiful china and memories! My Sister has my Mama's china:) Have a blessed day dear Nancy, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful set of china and silver! I have not seen it before that I recall so it looks fresh and unique to me.
ReplyDeleteMy sister has our mother's china and I have both grandmothers' sets. It is not unusual for the grandmother who had only my sister and me for grandchildren, but it is unusual to be blessed on the other side, Blessed me! No one else likes it!
Nancy, what absolutely stunning china and silverware! So pretty and soft. We did not have fancy china in our home. I guess the closet thing we had to that would be the china dishes that we got in the boxes of detergent...lol! But when we had to sell Mom's home when she couldn't live alone anymore, we all got together and decided who got what. The items that I have of hers mean so much to me...and I think that's kind of that same as being the keeper of your mom's china...it's all about the sentiment and the memories connect to them. I know it certainly must give you such a blessings every time you are able to use it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous china pattern Nancy! I regularly use my great grandmothers silver. Thank you so much for linking up to Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You make our gathering a happier place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful china and silver...I use a lot of my mom's dinnerware...but her prized Brown and White Transferware from England with so many pieces, I have already passed on to my daughter. She has 4 children that will be marrying in the next few years and my girl will so enjoy serving them dinners in their GREAT-GRANDMOTHER'S beautiful dishes. I have given most of my mom's prized pieces of other dishes to grands. I don't want to die before they have the pleasure of using them. ANYthing that my children or grandchildren loves...it's theirs, instantly.
ReplyDeleteDearest Nancy, HELLO! Happy Sunday! Oh, do I have fond memories of my mum's festive gatherings, especially when I was very little. When I was a teen, our family gatherings moved to my uncle's home where our wild and festive celebrations called for many relatives to be spread out throughout the house, gathered around the stove or outdoors! Those are my memories....
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming to visit my blog AND my Instagram page! Enjoy recording your life's moments on Instagram. I love it.
You are so lucky to have your mom's china and silverware....it is so beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!!

Your mother's china and silver are beautiful! I can see how you will love using them because of their beauty but more because they are your mom's and the memories that go with them. I love using my mother's dishes (franciscan) and my sister enjoys using her china. I have my grandmother's depression glass and my other grandma's silverware. I don't "save" any of it but use it as much as I can for the joy of it.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, they are beautiful! Every time you use them you will have such fond memories of her. My mom downsized and moved in with my older sis when she was older. I'm not really sure where her dishes ended up. We each took things. I got her outdoor furniture which is what I asked for.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you for the Birthday wishes today, Nancy. It means so much to me.
