Ladies and Gents... Introducing the most impressive color ever!
YELLOW
just
the
color
yellow
makes
me
smile!
You'll first be happy to know...
Yellow is found between green and orange.
And Yellow
is commonly associated with gold, wealth, sunshine, reason, happiness, optimism
and pleasure
And did you know that the painter Vincent van Gogh was a particular admirer of
the color yellow, the color of sunshine. Writing to his sister from the south of
France in 1888, he wrote, "Now we are having beautiful warm, windless weather
that is very beneficial to me. The sun, a light that for lack of a better word I
can only call yellow, bright sulfur yellow, pale lemon gold. How beautiful
yellow is!"
Heavens, did you know that Van Gogh painted sunflowers inside a small house he rented at 2 Place Lamartine, a house painted what Van Gogh called "buttery yellow?"
I know you know this! Van Gogh was one of the first artists to use commercially-manufactured paints, rather than paints he made himself. He used the traditional yellow ochre, but also chrome yellow, first made in 1809, and cadmium yellow, first made in 1820.[11]

Get this...The
first recorded use of canary yellow as a color name in English was in
1789
Do you know that the complementary color of yellow is violet; the two colors are opposite each other
on the color wheel long used by painters

ReplyDeleteI popped over here from Ganky's because your YELLOW post on her sidebar ENTICED me, and I have to say I DO love yellow. My favorite color for a kitchen with some RED thrown in. Love ALL of these photos. what a great post. Thanks for the pleasure-viewing today. Cheerful eye candy! Made me smile. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have never considered yellow as a favorite color, although I like it. I think you have done a good job at convincing me otherwise! These are lovely yellow images!
ReplyDeleteWell, that was fun!!
ReplyDeleteyou're very cute. :) i like your glee.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to convince me; I also LOVE yellow for all the reasons you mentioned in this wonderful tribute post to the happiest colour on the wheel, and one that makes me smile, whether it's looking at baby chicks on blogs, the buttery hues of my home, (both interior and exterior!), the fragrant freesia in my garden or the two sunny-side yolks that I enjoy on weekends!:)))

I do love natural yellow of goldfinches and daffodils and dandelions, and even like the pale yellow on the exterior of our house. But I'm totally weary of the pale yellow in my kitchen and am going for something different. HOWEVER, I do love your yellow photos, especially that gorgeous yellow door on the cottage! That is amazing! And I do think that yellow is such a cheering color!
ReplyDeleteYellow is my favorite color! It's such a happy color. I planted some yellow roses and they're finally blooming.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this!!!! I just may have to 'steal', borrow, or beg you to allow me to use this idea. My color isn't yellow, but my sister's is...and you both are full of sunshine, brightness, and happy days!! It's a fitting color for you...you bet your life!!!
ReplyDeleteYes this was fun and I love all your yellows! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI love the color yellow! It has such a warm, soothing feel to it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Nancy. I have the love for yellow too. I live in a yellow house and I painted the majority of it's interior walls a soft yellow as well. I think that yellow makes my antique and vintage pieces really pop. It is hard to photograph though. xo, olive
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your 'yellow' post. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and for your prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post Nancy!! Green is my favorite color but I like yellow too especially when it's paired up with blue!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow bike, door and cottage are my favorites! I could live in that little cottage beside some water. My daughter and DIL's favorite color is yellow! Fun! Fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a FUN post! I have a yellow/blue powder room on our mail floor. When MyHero and I moved into our first little house right after we got married there was a small sunny room off the master bedroom that I envisioned with a baby in it. I got pregnant and just a year later we had that baby girl...and that little nursery was painted soft yellow with filmy, sheer yellow Priscilla curtains and yellow and white carpeting. I don't have a single picture of that room and I just loved it....xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLove all the great yellow picks. It's always a happy color for me. I'm finding I'm using a lot of yellow this summer. Happy, happy. :)
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm lovin' the fence shot! thanks for linking in, nancy!
ReplyDeleteGreat fun post. However I was surprised that your barbed wire fence was not YELLOW!
ReplyDeleteNancy, what great post! I enjoyed all the facts and your photos. The flowers and bike is pretty and I love the fence scene! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about your pink header just about the time I reached the end of the post where you commented about it! All of your yellows are beautiful. I actually did a post about yellow a few years ago - although my favorite color is in your header!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fields with all the yellow flowers! I like the old windmill, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheery post!
ReplyDeleteYellow is far from mellow in this post! Great photos all the way through! Wendy
ReplyDeleteI love yellow. The color just makes me smile! Sunflowers are a favorite of mine in the yellow family! I once had a yellow kitchen, but now I have red. :) Fun post! I'm visiting from Theresa's Good Fences. ~Cheryl
ReplyDeleteWow, all treasures here, just fantastic captures.
ReplyDeleteLots of happiness on this post. How wonderful! I love everything yellow, except my clothing. Washes me out. :)
ReplyDeleteYellow has never been my color, but you certainly found a lot of amazing sights in yellow
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to see a post on all yellow!! Yellow has always been my favorite color! All shades of yellow - pale, bright, anything yellow I adore! Thanks, also for the historic info about yellow! Thanks for brightening my day! Now I'm going to do some pins on my Yellow Pinterest board!

Wow you've turned yellow into an "art form" with these awesome shots. I loved them all (and yellow isn't my favorite of colors). I was particularly fond of the Yellow Field with the trail through it, the yellow bicycle and flowers and the yellow barn (that's one you don't see often). Wasn't to fond though of those yellow stairs, also something you don't see often.
ReplyDeleteAhhh...yellow roses! What a beautiful post my friend! Sure to cheer us everyone up! Even though I am back home from vacation....doesn't vacation days always rush by too fast? Happy weekend my friend! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell I can see what you like about it. I can look at it but I can't live in it. It's just the way the color wheel bounces!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with us, now I'm ready to add some yellow to my life, too.
ReplyDeleteI feel happier already!
Hugs,
Patti
I love yellow and have it all over our home. I just bought some yellow spray paint and have some painting in mind for summer. Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy! My mother always dressed me in yellow and her favorite roses were yellow which is what I sent her for Mother's Day. I loved this post!!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about your post on YELLOW this morning . . . (thought I had commented, guess not) and realized I had not seen Nanc's Notes pop up in my Bloglovin for a few days . . . I remembered info about chemo shot and home showing and began to wonder if my sweet Texan Nancy was feeling okay? Or if you sold your home and moved . . . (seriouly doubt the moving part).
ReplyDeleteJust thinking of you . . . hope all is well . . .
By the way . . . I loved your YELLOW post . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly pretty post!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love yellow too. In my house there is.......a red and yellow kitchen........a blue and yellow bedroom..........a cream and yellow bedroom...........a provencal-print and yellow bedroom...........and more....so I loved this post!
ReplyDeleteNancy, I love yellow too, but I sure can't wear the color. Does nothing for me! lol! Yellow, purple, and red are my favorite color combinations in the garden and I use them often in my planters. Yellow is like sunshine and just makes me happy! Loved those dishes, the yellow door, and oh that barn made me swoon! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
