Well, I hope you all had a glorious weekend that was full of all things you love...
I'll get right to mine...I took my pleasures seriously! They were a must, I know you know about those times. A must for me - non-negotiable.
I had a weekend that was full of nurturing myself. Yes, I did! I had not planned on Saturday being a day of nurturing, but it truly was a day of doing nothing at all except deepening my ties with nature, and frankly, doing what I wanted to do. That little voice in my head was nagging, Nancy, this is impractical, I mean really, use your energy in another way, scratch things off your long list. Blasted little voice, I just ignored it completely. Don't you just sometimes wish that voice would just taking a flying leap and leave you alone? Well, full of rebellion, ( I'm finally at that age, seriously where I can do what I want and when I want and not feel guilty. Oh that foul word and feeling, it's so making it's way out of my vocabulary, God knows, it's healing- My list flew back behind my chair, you know the Johnny Carson flip, flip and throw antic, that was it! Well, threw on my grubbies, laced up my shoes, picked up my camera, sunglasses, visor and was out the door. Chin up and proud, and I was on a mission. A nature and nurture mission. As I got closer to the pond at the park, it just so happened that I did need my camera in hand! My feathered friend, oh yes, they were up for a photo shoot. Did my manager call them? I was totally in my "Nancy's Notes Nature Magazine" photographer mode. I certainly was not there to enjoy a good sweaty run on the track, no, a good workout was not in my plan. I don't like to sweat. I know, who cares, but I just am sharing. What a Saturday morning... The weather was just delightful and my feathered friends, they were showy, so engaging, I truly was able to get some beautiful ducks shots, turtle shots, bird shots, weed shots, tree shots, flower shots, airplane shots, yes, I was in my glory. Oh my, just breathing in life's fragrances, feeling invigorated, watching the birds flying all around me, and yes, watching a plane fly over and wondering why I was not on it dreaming about where I wanted to be taken away. One of those mornings... Yes, I was tickled that I was up early and made the decision to let mother nature nurture me. Taking some time for myself, the walk in the park totally enhanced my well being. At the end of this simply wonderful day, we headed to dinner and enjoyed some friend time. At some point, I'll share some great appetizer recipes that I tried on our friends, they gave them a 10! We enjoyed scrumptious grilled steaks, baked potatoes, roasted vegetables with fresh sprigs of rosemary, a green salad and an almond cream cake that would knock your socks off. And yes, great wine does make for a perfect evening.
Sunday...coming soon.
Here are a few many shots, hope you enjoy!

Awe....your pictures are beautiful and I am so glad you enjoyed yourself on your little outing. Some days we just simply need a little time for ourselves. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteNancy, there's nothing like a little alone time in the midst of God's beautiful creation to be rejuvenated....one of my favorite things to do. Your photos are so wonderful! Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed week :)
ReplyDeleteGREAT post- What a great thing you do to do that Johnny Carson flip and decide to nurture YOU for the day. LOVE all your photos. You mislabeled one though! Seriously. They CRACK me up should be They QUACK me up....just sayin.... GREAT photos!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love the shots - especially the wee duckling ready to take the plunge.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to do that self-care that is so important but so hard to do. The nasty word 'guilt' has a way of interfering. If I sit for a minute I think 'I could be doing something else to the house to make it better for sale'. What I need is a good rainy day for an excuse!
Love the yellow bird-they are so hard to photograph. I am glad you relaxed and took care of Nancy.
ReplyDeletelove that you enjoyed yourself! ducks, geese, ducklings - such joy. :)
ReplyDeleteNurturing oneself is vital. Spending the day enjoying the beauty around us is truly a wonderful way to nurture one's soul. Just came in from wandering my garden. Ahhh………simple pleasures.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day. Thanks for sharing the beautiful images.
I also have that "do ... do ... do ..." work ethic engrained in me and I am working on telling myself that it is okay to relax and do nothing. While you were enjoying you Saturday, I was coaching my volleyball team in a tournament and came home exhausted. But, they won the tournament which was unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteLove that last shot - I have an almost identical picture of a pelican sitting on a buoy in the marina.
Pamper yourself !
I love all of the photos to you took on your adventure. Sometimes it is just nice to observe the world I think it is a good thing to stop and feed the soul from the end of a camera lens.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful when you feel that burst of energy and at the same time the weather is nice. You took wonderful photos and I can just tell by this post that it gave you a lift to your spirits! Since we have been hiking, I have learned the joys of sweating! haha! It's all about the delightful shower when you get home....and crisp clean clothes! Makes you feel so great...and girlish! Enjoy your week my friend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful day and great photos. I truly believe in taking care of our souls so we can do our 'chores' later!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Now that is my kind of day. Just explore and enjoy what's around you!!
ReplyDeleteI love going on nature walks, though I don't do it nearly often enough. You caught some beautiful shots. Of course, that purple weed caught my eye- I wonder what it is.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful!! Blessings, Catherine
