A Rare Possibility~

I'm so curious!

Okay, I've been wondering for a long, long time about this simple and precious little piece. I do not have any information about this piece and I've had it for years. Would love to know the name of the pattern, if there is one.

It was an anniversary gift and I'll forever treasure it! It makes me happy just to look at it.
I have silk flowers placed in it and it's sitting pretty on a nightstand in one of the guest bedrooms.
I love it~

There is not one letter or word on the back.

Any ideas?

Pssst, if it's not a rare antique, please don't tell me!

I'll keep my rose colored glasses on and just go believing it's one of a most coveted collector's piece...

I'm thrilled to be back in the wonderful world of blogging-

  1. Okay, no laughing at my teeny tiny little border. It's a work in progress. Was the perfect size and I keep fiddling with it...sigh...

  4. Nancy...it's so great to see you back again in the world of blogging!! And thanks for stopping by, it's nice to be back in touch! I am not the person to ask about this vase. I hope someone recognizes it. I know Country Living Magazine has that section "What Is It Worth", where you send in a picture of your antique and they figure it out. Maybe that's worth a shot.

I read your last post, too, about simplifying. I started that last year but just didn't have the heart to toss or give away so many of my pretty pieces. I was lucky to have my daughter's empty room, she got married last May. I keep everything in there, seasonal items sorted in bins, other things just grouped or lined up. If I'm looking for a certain vase or basket, it's there. Not everyone has this space but you might be able to find a closet, corner of your laundry room or even under a bed. Now this really let's you shop the house!! And it looks new again!

    Talk soon!

    XO,
    Jane

  5. I am not sure what the piece is. The flower looks like Clematis and it reminds me of Nipon pieces. Lovely indeed.

What a thrill to read your comment

  6. about our snowy, cold weather on my Irish Garden House. I am so happy you are back to your blog and that we reconnected this evening. You have been one who inspired me when I began my blog. I look forward to reading and following you again. Thank you for your nice comment.

  7. Not being able to see the top, I am only guessing especially as you don't give the measurements. But if it's about 4-5 inches high by the same in diameter is is probably what is classed as a rose bowl. It looks to me like it was a hand painted beauty from a talented amateur artist. Hand painting on porcelain was a very big "genteel ladies' parlor pastime" in the 1890s to 1920s, and even into the 1960s. It's a treasure! Often the blanks, or unpainted pieces were from well known makers like some of the Limoge manufacturers. I can see why you love it. I do too!
    Happy VTT!

  9. A very pretty vase.......it definitely looks like English bone china to me..........course, I am by no means
and expert..........lol But who cares what it is as long as you are enjoying it so much.........
course, I do understand your wondering, cause I have some goblets that I have had for years that I
got from an elderly neighbor and just this week found out that were made by Anchor Hocking in the
    40's..........

    Have a Blessed New Year,
    Nellie

  11. Lovely vase, I too thought it might be a hand painted piece. I have seen small plates that look similar, but this is a stunning piece. Are there any markings at all on the bottom? Happy VTT!

  14. Hi Nancy,
This is indeed a Rose Bowl and the flowers are hand painted. The flowers are Wild Roses. It looks so much like something my MIL would have painted. I will share a link to a post I did on some things she painted for me. She loved China painting so much. It is a dying art, as I don't think our generation is taking it up. You should look all around the painting to see if there is a small signature somewhere. Most china painters sign their work. Here is the link to my blog -
