Just thinking...
You know, I could really sit for hours if I were not blogging and flip through decorating books and magazines, could you?
Well, if you have not, a question would go like this.
# 1 After a hard day, you would love to come home to a room:
A. With soft comfortable seating, a fire in the fireplace, lots of family pictures surrounding you?
B. With large areas of glass, a few pieces of classic furniture (both old and modern,) and a collection of contemporary art and sculptures?
C. With quiet elegance, Queen Anne furniture, and mellow Oriental rugs?
#2 You would prefer to sit and read in:
A. In a squishy and comfy armchair covered in soft, nubby fabric, where you can see geraniums blooming on a patio overlooking a pool?
B. An antique Chippendale wing back chair covered in Toiles de Jouy and close to lovely French doors that open onto a garden with a water fountain?
C. A classic steel and leather chaise positioned to view the skyline at sunset?
Oh my, confusion has set in!
Check out Better Homes and Gardens Decorating books, similar and confusing questions are there.
Oh dear, I've changed my answers so many times. One day I feel one way, another day....who knows!
I read that that each home should have a specific style, whether it's rustic, contemporary, classic or just plain eclectic. ...
You don't want your home looking like a garage sale, so if you can't make up your mind, use the different styles in separate rooms.
Hummm....
Wow, had not ever thought that my home could possibly look like a garage sale style! I'll take just plain eclectic!
What's your style?
Not a bit related to this post, but Nana could not resist!
Check out their dress up style!
Just plain fancy!
Loving that lipstick!!! Eye shadow too...
Oh my, high heels feel off somewhere!
(Dresses were my daughters, gracious humpteen years ago. Have many!
the photo is adorable!
ReplyDeletenot a decorator by any stretch of the imagination. i'd rather clean out the barn than leaf thru decor magazines...
The girls are absolutely adorable. I love their pic, way too precious and so fun.
ReplyDeleteAs for the decorating, maybe mine looks a little like garage sale. Ok, I am with you, I am just calling it early "could afford and still love" and eclectic mixed with a lot of thrifty finds. Hugs, Marty
Oh that photo is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI kind of consider myself a decorating Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde because I feel like I change my style everyday! lol
The girls are fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI probably lean more to the As in those questions, but I don't think about decorating too much. You can't even paint walls in an apartment, so I go for practical and storage for all my books and art & craft supplies--LOL! ;)
Look at those fancy cuties-fun! I'd say my *cough* style is rustic and comfortable:@)
ReplyDeleteI love the poses of those adorable grand daughters!
ReplyDeleteI have tried for years to figure out my decorating style, ha-ha. I am a magazine junkie and you would think by now I would get style! Nope, not me, one minute I'm rustic, then the next soft and romantic. I think I'm what you call lived in and messes at time.
One other confession, I too am a pack rat and I'm really working on de clutter. But, not going so well!
I am a pack rat but drag out those dresses too for the kiddos to play dress-up! Those little ones are absolutely precious posing on the piano bench:) Hope you are enjoying this evening! I am! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! First of all, those little fancy ladies are just adorable! I don't blame you for snapping their piccture. I have taken these decorating style tests too. I'm pretty much a traditionalist I guess I just like what I like more than anything! But I do like cozy and comfy! ;)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia:)
Cottage, junk, thrifty, hard to pin down really. Your girls are too too cute:}
ReplyDeleteDoes this make us schizophrenic decorators?? Love the photo!
ReplyDeleteAdorable little girls . . . Love the poses the hands . . .
ReplyDeleteI am pulled to ideas for decorating . . . creating . . . travel . . . the list goes on. I have to say, STOP to get on with my days . . . I am reading Qundlin's book, Lot's of Candles, Plenty of Cake, (might have some of the title words mixed, but hopefully you'll find it if interested) and the book begins with "the stuff" we each have, (me) . . . makes me giggle, the persons we become, the "stuff" of us.
Nancy I am so eclectic in my decorating if it could be called that. I think 'garage sale' just might describe my home! Love the dress up...such fun! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteOh you are an awesome Nana I would love to have came to your house and seen those happy giggling girls. I miss my girls and no Grandchildren yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI must be a garage stylist:) Oh well I like what I like. Take care B
Nancy, you are hilarious. Love your blog. Your granddaughters are too much. What a great photo. I fail the decorating test. I am so fickle and love some many types of things. I have been thinking about rearranging everything. My style changes from one piece of furniture to the next! I am one more weird piece away from an episode of Hoarders. Excited to start following you!
ReplyDeleteThe girls are adorable!! Oh you know my style, shabby, white, pink girlie! I like eclectic too, I would call it interesting
ReplyDeleteCarol
The girls are just precious! Did they pick out proper names for their new identities? heehee! My style is definitely eclectic! I was confused by some of the questions and thought about...none of the above. I love comfortable with a fire but don't have lots of family pictures in my rooms...for instance! I do love decorating books though! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHehe, some of those questions I could answer all of the above :0 I would say I lean to eclectic. Your granddaughters are adorable and look like they are having so much fun :)
ReplyDeleteJust the cutest picture either of these lovely ladies. I think they are having a blast.
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
ReplyDeleteAAAdorable girls!
ReplyDeleteAs to decorating style...convivial clutter and, Girl, it looks guuud!
More importantly, it's comfortable.
