I'm so inspired by the magazine I just bought and published by...
Better Homes and Gardens
Container Gardening~
Around our pool area I've got some big pots filled with flowers
They are quite simple and stand alone.
Now, I am thinking of adding some show stopping color in the sun and shade with some great looking, and different looking containers.
My new thing...
Container Gardening.
How about you, do you plant flowers in containers or just in the ground, or both?
Would love to hear what does well in this horrid summer heat we are already experiencing!
Hope you all had a great weekend~

oy! have a few in the ground - like 3. and 1 in a pot - which the grasshoppers have now eaten to death. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWe're lucky, plants in containers do well in Philly, just gotta keep them watered well. Hope you find some that are happy there too:@)
ReplyDeleteEver since our three year drought, i have been putting most of my flowers in containers...so much easier to manage! I'll check out that book!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI plant in both. Most of my flowers are in containers, but I do have some perennials in the ground, too.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!! All my gardens are perennials...and I LOVE container gardening with annuals...I DID discover from a friend that the MEGA BLOOM FOODS they sell at the garden centers makes container flowers BLOOOOM LIKE CRAZY! WARNING THOUGH, lots of pots will keep you VERY BUSY watering... BUT LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a FUN week,
Big Hugs,
Donna
Those are gorgeous containers and plants. I live in an apartment with little room for plants and not too awful much sun. I'd never have room for such an array of beauty! Lovely though. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Nancy,
ReplyDeleteMy hubby enjoys the outside work...he has planted flowers in the ground and has pots on the patio. However, we have a couple of little bunnies that have eaten the tops off of the flowers. Needless, to say...he is not very happy! (Nor am I)
Have a marvelous Monday. ~Natalie
HI!!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to start a container garden for a while...in AZ it is SO hot....so if I place them on the patio, they will be shaded from our harsh sun!!!I do have several pots around the pool....but always make sure to plant what will live around here...I SO WISH for all that color...I get it...but in the winter!!!!
Hugs,
jamie
I have many plants in the gound but I also have several containers for other plants.. In new gardens, like my new cutting garden, containers are perfect to fill up spaces while plants are in their early growth. I like my plants cuddled, mixed in with one another. Kind of like us as people, all mixed up of differences learning to grow and interact with one another.
ReplyDeleteYour containers and plantings look like a wonderful mixture . . .
I have lots of containers on the patio area but at the moment they are all empty because of the rubbish weather we have had up until now!
ReplyDeleteHopefully I will get them sorted this week and it will look more respectable!!
Love your photos
your containers are beautiful.
Have a great week

I do both! I have lots of flowers planted in the ground but also have container flowers:) There are so many colorful pots which add beauty around the pool! Love all of the pretty colors! Have a blessed day dear Nancy, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI love the pots you've chosen for your plants, Nancy! They are just as pretty as your flowers!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of containers too...but not as pretty as yours. Mine are mostly for annuals. The gardens are all perennials. I LOVE flowers, and have them in window boxes, hanging pots, wicker stands, cement planters, etc.
Can't have too many flowers....
xxoo
Nancy I love your container gardening. I have done some and I love it. This year since I'm not home I've not planted anything but I hope I will! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteboth but the containers need water, daily, when it's hot summertime. now, I just water them every couple three days.
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty! Good luck with your planting!
ReplyDeleteNancy,
ReplyDeleteI would normally plant my annuals in containers, but would you believe I haven't done a thing this year. Last summer makes me scared to try and keep anything alive through the summer. I lost so many things last year.
You've inspired me to at least do one pot...just because the color is gorgeous!
Deb
Sure looks like it's off to an excellent start!

Nancy, that looks fabulous, I love flowers, but hate to keep them alive LOL! It takes so much water for container plants her in the Florida heat
ReplyDeleteCarol
I plant a lot of containers. It's nice to move them around and for me easy to take some plants in for the winter so they'll survive. Plus, it adds different heights. I like the containers you've chosen so far.
