This is my second Pinata, my daughter gave me a new one, think she decided it was time!
Below is my first and very used one.
I had to keep a rubber band around it...so happy I have the new one.

My oldest cookbook

This one was copyright in 1959 by General Mills, Inc.
As you can see, I have my computer near all of those cookbooks and a few other non-related books. Oh and the numerous cooking and recipe sites on the internet, in the blink of an eye, there up on the screen, love them too! I don't think you can see, but you might catch a glimpse along with the cookbooks, some books on diets.
Imagine that?
Weight Watchers, Atkins, Jenny Craig, to name a few!
Just a note to Nancy, there is a pattern here.
You think!
No problem and that's my story!
There's always Pilates, Yoga, Jazzercise, Spinning, Treadmill and the Wii~
Got them all covered~

That's neat you have such a large collection of cookbooks. My daughter loves collecting them, too. She really loves to cook and bake. I love the vintage ones you have!

I buy cookbooks and then never use them...I have good intentions..but watch foodnetwork and just down load the recipe that I like...I need to pull them out and use them more.:) just so hard.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteWow you do have a lot of cookbooks. I only have a few because I really don't love to cook. I do but I don't love to. I wish I did. Sometimes I am in the mood and other times not. That Betty Crocker cookbook from 1954 is a year older than me. I have an old cookbook that was my grandmother's. Not even sure of the date of it. I will have to look at it again. The pages are old and yellow and it is falling apart. I was just checking in and saw you had a new post up. I am painting again!!
Nancy ~ You have a nice collection going. Cookbooks were something I collected for many, many years. I have over 300, so watch out. Most were bought at yards sales, flea markets and thrift stores. I love them. I also love sitting down and looking through them and trying new recipes.
ReplyDeleteHappy cooking and baking ~ FlowerLady
LOL! Nancy, I was thinking just the other day that I seem to have about a 5:1 ratio of cookbooks:diet books! LOL! Maybe that explains the 5:1 weight problem. LOL! I do love me some cookbooks!
ReplyDeleteNancy I love all your cookbooks. I have quite a few but not as many as you (well I don't think so?),my Mom has so many she has started giving them away. I have brought some of my favorites home with me. I love to find the old one's in the thrift stores. I have several childrens cookbooks also! What a fun collection.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about cookbooks! I love them, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a collection of cookbooks girl! I'm hoping that you cook and use some of the recipes!
I like looking at the pictures but when it comes to cooking I would rather be decorating or making something.
Love your older ones. I think my Mom had some of those because she collected them too.
hugs

Sometimes we just need a little inspiration. And the right cookbook is the place to head ;) I love the one copyrighted 1959 with the cover that looks like cross-stitch.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you have a cookbook library! It sounds like you love to cook!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteAfter a long day of working hard, it's a delight to grab an old friend and have a visit. That's how I feel about my cookbooks and I'm so appreciative of your beautiful collection, rubber bands and all! Thanks for sharing a wonderful note...happiness to you.
I too have a vast collection of old and new cookbooks. There is something about the older ones that are very special to me - I think it may be because they hold so many memories(plus the recipes are wonderful).
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I have so many that every time my daughter goes into my pantry she always tries to make me get rid of some. I refuse to give any of them away though.
Thanks for such a cute post!!!
Hi Nancy, I buy them usually at yard sales. I read them and study up. But I seldom cook with a recipe! I guess I absorb something. Love the way you display yours!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend~olive
:) You have a wonderful collection. I'd find myself flipping through them, unable to make up my mine!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cookbook is 'The Joy of Cooking' - love it!
Hope you have a beautiful weekend,
Zuzu

ReplyDeleteSonny
LOL! I just went through my cookbooks last week and got rid of some I never use. They just keep coming into the house somehow! I wish I had the time and incentive to cook every single recipe. But lately, I've been getting the best recipes from the internet and blog friends... yum!
ReplyDelete-Pam
I love cookbooks too. I love looking at the recipes and pictures... though many times I never used them. My fave ones to look through are desserts of course:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
Gwen

ReplyDeleteI love cookbooks, old and new! I was just looking thru them recently and wishing I had a better way to display them.
ReplyDeleteLove the Pinata cookbook and I will have to look for that one! It must be really good for you to use it up and have to have a replacement:)
Enjoy your evening my friend! HUGS!
Oh how I love cookbooks too...what a great collection!
ReplyDeleteI love cookbooks, also. I have about 125 or so. I can take them to bed and read them like novels- and I love cooking new things.
ReplyDeleteI have that very same Good and Easy Cookbook. I had no idea it was made the year I was born...1954. Yikes. I used that book lots as a teenager.
