Nancy's Notes Living - Kitchen

Welcome to Nancy's Notes Living!

Today let's gather in the kitchen, pour yourself a cup of coffee and come along for the tour!

Should I use silver service?
No-

A casual and very cute little set...
No-

Yes, this is it!
It's my daily stuff....

Sorry, no time to bake this coffee cake, but I'll share~
This was pirated from The Pioneer Woman!

The Best Coffee Cake. Ever.

(I'm getting to the tour in just a minute, just wanted to give your something delicious that you can try at home!)
Prep Time:

Cook Time:

Difficulty:
 Easy

Servings:
 16

Ingredients

  •  FOR THE CAKE:
  • 1-1/2 stick Butter, Softened
  • 2 cups (scant) Sugar
  • 3 cups Flour, Sifted
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1-1/4 cup Whole Milk
  • 3 whole Egg Whites, Beaten Until Stiff
  •  FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 1-1/2 stick Butter, Softened
  • 3/4 cups Flour
  • 1-1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 cup Pecans, Chopped

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat egg whites and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar. Add flour mixture and milk alternately until combined. Don't overbeat. Fold in beaten egg whites with a rubber spatula. Spread in a well-greased 9 x 13 (or LARGER!) baking pan. A cake pan with higher sides would be best.
In a separate bowl, combine topping ingredients with a pastry cutter until crumbly. Sprinkle all over the top.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until no longer jiggly. Serve warm---delicious!

Ready for the tour?

Looking in from the family room.

Those under the counter lights are a tad bit bright, guess the photographer had her flash on again! Sigh...
But they
sure do light up my
counter top stuff
vignette's~

Love this copper pitcher...

A few touches from Mackenzie Child's collection.

Don't look at the roosters on those Pier One Canisters...
from front of kitchen, you can't see the roosters.
Don't ask!

Some cookbooks to add to the kitchen ambiance and those lemons...
They've traveled many a mile!!

I fell in love with this aluminum plate plate the instant I saw it!

I try to keep the cookie jar filled.
The Oreo's are gone again...oh wait, there's a crumb!

Ahhh....be still my heart. More Mackenzie Child treasures.

Oh, here's the breakfast room and again Mackenzie Childs placemats, they last forever!
Wipe and go!
I like to add different colored placemats under them.

This Copper pot, grabbed it up, was in my cart, in my car in a flash.
For pennies too!

My desk downstairs.
When Mr. Notes watches TV downstairs - I head upstairs!
I know, you know.

I need my space and it takes total concentration when I'm working on my blog~

Little treasures-
Funny story.
When my mom sees things that were hers, like these mugs on top shelf,...
she'll say, when did I give you these? LOL
I have some beautiful things that she has given to me.
Anything that's hers, I cherish.

Oh my, don't look at the family room yet! That's going to be in next installment!

We enjoy the breakfast bar and so do the grandkids!
Something about being up high, right?

See the border? Hummmm
I just don't look up!

I do like the window coverings...
I didn't pick out, but thankfully, I'm okay with them!

Recognize that Ethan Allen table? Humpteen hundred years old.
It's not antique - pretty close to vintage.

Little marks our kids made while doing homework, I love the marks now!

Okay, CLOSE UP of the wallpaper we inherited!

It's this border....

Seriously, I thinking this has got to go.
I just don't look up and I'm okay then.

What do you think?
I've heard wallpaper is back-
Maybe keep the wallpaper and get rid of the border.
Decisions- Decisions!

Paint?
Think an entire re-do?
Not anytime soon.
Besides, I'm in no hurry for any major changes, enough changes in my body! Ekk
And anyway, we don't do things fast around here...last movie we saw was Ben Hur!

Well, hope you enjoyed the little tour!

All Over The Place...

Good Monday Morning!

Hard to believe it's another Monday, they sure seem to be rolling around faster than I remember!
I had a post ready and then, I remembered Mosaic Monday! I'm always ready for that party. Since I'm always playing with my camera and making mosaics, it's hard to choose. I know you don't want to be here all day long, so I'll just post a few, I'll try!

 Nothing fancy....
Love my Pier One salad plates.

A morning walk with my trusty camera.

 A zoo photograph...

 Youngest granddaughters, such sweet sisters!
I love the one where they are peeking in at their brother.

 One of my favorite finds.

Here at home on Saturday~

A table for one!

And last but not least....
Our granddaughter just turned 15!
Oh my gracious, drivers ed and permit coming soon!
She's a sweetie! Love her to bits and pieces and to the moon and back!

Joining in on the fun!
Mosaic Monday~

Have a great week!

Just Girlfriends....

Good Friday Morning!

What a treat to receive this book in the mail from a sweet friend of mine some time back.
It's full of precious little photographs that will melt your heart or crack you up!

Oh yes, more than chit chat!!
Right?

Oh, no napping, lets go shopping, we can do lunch too!

Slow down!
Look, ahhh, are they just the cutest things you've ever seen?

We love selfies!

Why do you always want to take my picture???
This is the last one!

Aww, come on, your haircut looks great!
They cut it too short, why do they always do that??
It's okay, you look darlin'

Wait, wait, wait!!!  I was not looking!!!
Take that again!

How did you get in there??? You silly goose!

You crack me up!
Really? Can't believe it! You did what?

I'm sorry that happened, you just tell him like it is!
Here's a hug...

What kind of perfume are you wearing?
Where did you get it?
I'm there!

Oh my, antique shopping, I'm in!

What did you say???

Author Bonnie Louise Kuchler put it best-

You  don't need to ask girlfriends for help.
Their antennas are fully extended...
catching your unspoken words!

So true, isn't it?
