Church - June 10, 1639

Good afternoon friends!

Okay, this is so exciting!
So I decided I'd just share this with you on this beautiful Sunday.

This amazing old church in London has some of my family history that dates back to
June 10, 1639~

Seriously, my heart can't believe it!
I'm so blessed with this knowledge.

Below each photo...

no words.

The beauty speaks for itself.

St. Dunstans

St Dunstans is an Anglican Church which stands on a site which has been used for Christian worship for over a thousand years.

It is located in Stepney High Street, in Stepney, London
 Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Interesting to me...
 is this!

London Church Registers recorded the marriage of our ancestors,
 Thomas Nye and Katherine Hunter
on June 10th 1639
 at St. Dunstans, Stepney.

My maiden name is NYE

We were in London in 2005 and at that time, if I had done this research, we could have attended services there! We attended services at Westminster Abby, what an experience! We also went  to St. Pauls Cathedral and St. Martin in the Fields Church.

The Church continues to be open to visitors and worshipers from all over the world
There is an active congregation who help to continue the life of the church community.

I love genealogy~

Have a great and blessed Sunday and week!

  1. Oh, it is such a beauty. I am always amazed at the architecture. They is a blog called By Stargoose and Hanglands...he posts old churches sometimes. You might enjoy his blog. He generally only posts a time or two a week.

  3. Bless that congregation for keeping the church open and holding services. It looks rural, lots of trees near, for being a London area church. How exciting to find a mention of your relatives from the 1600s. I have found relatives in France in the 1600s, it is rather thrilling.
