I love to knit~
My youngest daughter and I learned how to knit together about seven years ago and we had such fun. Went out and bought the essentials, a book, some sticks/needles and some yarn.
We were excited and ready to knit! If I remember correctly, I read the instructions and she stitched, then I watched her, very intently and tried to do the same thing... Oh, so thankful she is patient.

We did it, we actually learned how to knit. Yes, it took me longer than it took my daughter! Oh, so thankful she is patient.
Yes, and I'll admit, my earliest attempts were a disaster. If you know how to know, you understand the dreaded drop stitch. If you don't knit, don't ask! Yes, yarn would tangle. I'd forget to count rows. I would hold things too tight or too loose. I'd start on the back instead of the front...(Oh, so thankful she is patient)
I can proudly say after sticking to it...I know the very basics of knitting.
I've made baby blankets, scarves, and three toddler ponchos, one adult poncho and baby hat! Oh a baby hat, never again. Not me. It was adorable, but wow, it was a tad bit difficult for this beginner. I still can't believe I did it and did not have to use glue. I enjoy easy to follow instructions. No bells and whistles. I still consider myself a beginner and not a purly pro!
These are just a few of the knitting books that have helped me express my creativity. Through the years, I've needed every kind of stitch doctor's guide out there. I was always looking for easy fixin' tricks.
Below are some of my favorite (yes, necessary) books followed by some things in my fun knitting bags. The fun is getting ready and making sure you have all that it takes to sit down and be creative!
I'll also show you a couple of finished projects too. I'll show you more projects when I find photographs of them. I really would love to show them to you. I'm quite proud!

Love your projects! I have never learned to knit (or crochet) I am sorry to say. I keep thinking it is something I will do someday. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to learn , but never did. You should be very proud of yourself and your daughter. Way to go. Thanks for posting

ReplyDeleteWill you teach me? Please please please please...

I know how to knit but was always a tight knitter and couldn't knit to size. The baby hat would be beyond me because it would probably end up too small to fit the poor thing--LOL! But I could knit things like scarves and blankets and throws and wash cloths--very simple things that I could adjust by sight. Since I was left with muscle damage in my left wrist years ago I can only do things like knitting for a very short time, so I quit. Lately I've been wondering about making those long thin winter scarves that you can wrap several times around your neck. They just look cool and they have such soft yarn these days. Good luck! You're doing well!! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish! I tried the 'Knitting for Dummies' book and never could figure out how to get started. My daughter, the sweetheart, is left handed so she couldn't get it either. Help!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I really want to make a great throw blanket for the livingroom, used to knit and pearl, but that was when I was a kid. Have fun:@)
ReplyDeleteGood for you for sticking with it! Looks like you do a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteMy Sister can knit but not me! It sure looks like you have a beautiful project for the year ahead:) Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You know I'm a knit-aholic! It is therapy for what ails you... plus, a wonderful creative outlet!! I started almost three years ago with the coming of my first grandchild and I haven't looked back! You are right about it being hard to find time for EVERYTHING though! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a collection of 'help' books too and will be adding some of yours! Thank you. I am looking forward to seeing more of your projects! Woo hoo! Knit on. blessings ~ Tanna
I too love to knit. Especially baby things. I am self taught & have been knitting for over 40 years. Love your items!!
ReplyDeleteHave a Peaceful Day!

Loved this, seeing the colors of yarn, knitting bag with your initial N, books of ideas and help . . . brings knitting memories to my mind.
ReplyDeleteI love to knit too. Scarves seem to keep my concentration because the finshed product becomes visable early on. Hats for my grandchildren have been fun projects and accomplishing my first cable stitch in a pillow is my claim to fame.
Your baby blankets look lovely . . . I forward to seeing more of your projects. A smile for me indeed . . . finding time to knit or spending time to visit EVERYONE!
What a treat to share knitting with your daughter!
Knitting brings such joy and you have made tremendous progress. I learned to knit when I was a child and loved designing hats. It brings such joy to create a garment which is unique and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKeep knitting

I think you have done very well for a beginner!!! The blankets are just beautiful! I learned to knit when I was younger but just learned the basics. Mostly, I remember the mistakes! lol!
