Gardening Austin Style

These are the first blooms I have seen! As I walked around my yard this morning, I was pleased to see them beginning to ease out into a bloom! There are many more, these are just the first ones to perk up and are gently saying they are ready for Spring. These plants thrive with minimal care, I mean minimal! The ones we have in our yard are all mostly deer resistant since we have a little situation we have to deal with, my friends, yes, the deer! They'll just make themselves at home and make a meal out of just about anything that is beautiful and enjoy it all in a heart beat! We have even had one looking in our front door, stood there like he was about to ring the door bell!
I have given you all a little  peak of  our Petunias, Black Dalea, Salvia, Society Garlic, Mountain Laurel and Pink Skullcap!  I'll be back soon with these native and adapted plants in full bloom!

It’s Fertilizer Friday at Tootsie Time, join the fun!

  2. It's so wonderful to see color in the beds once again ,instead of a bed of white! Your blooms look so pretty!! We all have our cross to bear .... You have deer ,I have groundhog(s). Because of him( her?)We had to move all our flowers from the back to the front or in pots on the deck. Now all they ae left with down in the back are Shrubbery hahaha... not so tasty!! ( I better watch now that I said something hahahaha...) Have a great weekend!

  14. Lots of pretty flowers!! I love seeing the petunias, it'll be months before they bloom here. We don't get deer in our yard, just the squirrels and raccoons, but I know other gardeners that use liquid fence with good results.
    Happy Spring!

It is so much fun to come by and see spring on your blog. We got snow today in No. Illinois. I know spring will be here soon. The bulbs are coming up and the trees have buds. xo Joan@anythinggoeshere

  17. Hi Nancy...

Ohhh...Spring time in Texas! Your flowers all look so pretty, my friend! I have a sister that lives in the Hill country and she is always looking for plants that are "deer resistant"! Hehe! I lived in South Texas for 30 yrs...I am now in Colorado. My friend, we still have snow on the ground! I am sooo ready for Spring! Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers with us...they are like a breath of fresh air!!!

I also wanted to thank you for coming by and taking a peek at my Spring Green tablescape and for leaving me such a sweet note! Thank you!

    Warmest wishes,

  18. Hi Nancy! Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself! I'm on a short blogging break but will return shortly after Easter. Added myself as a follower so I don't miss any of the great goings-on in Austin. We're neighbors... French Lique (aka St. Hedwig) is about 15 miles east of San Antonio off IH10.
    See ya soon! Dixie
